"These new travelers don’t need tons of handholding, they shun human interaction, and know their way around everywhere they go."

The elusive "silent traveler" skips traditional guest touch points in favor of digital options. Travel information star, Skift, first coined the term earlier this year when they predicted that in 2014 we would see the rise of the silent traveler - and rise they did. These guests are, for the most part, a sub-sect of the Millenial generation, a hot topic in hospitality industry chatter.

Below we cover 3 tips for connecting with these silent travelers, all of which leverage technology as the new guest touch point:

  1. Digitize Your Brand: from an Internet login screen to online check-in to your guest computer welcome screen - make sure it's nicely branded to ensure these tech-dependent guests are interacting with your brand in their digital world.
  2. Power to the Connected Guest: take a page from the new LINQ hotel and be sure to provide plenty of outlets for these guests to power their multiple mobile devices (they'll never forgive you if their smartphone dies and there's no plug-in).
  3. Wi-Fi is their Love Language: offering secure and reliable Internet is an important (albeit obvious) way to win over these silent travellers; learn how to manage multiple guest devices and more with ElevenOS guest Internet management.

Connecting with these silent travelers can be tricky, but it's certainly not impossible.
