Conference Internet | Part II: Attendee Considerations

In Part I of this Conference Internet series, Bandwidth Allocation, we examined the function of CSMS as an intuitive software tool for managing and provisioning Internet bandwidth at conferences. In Part II, we will talk about attendee-specific considerations, like doling out access codes, managing role-based permissions, and the proliferation of mobile devices.

Customize Access Codes and Permissions

With the ability to create multiple access codes with different permissions, you can deliver a unique conference experience while protecting your bandwidth, hardware, etc. Eleven’s CSMS allows event managers to limit the number of users to any one code and change bandwidth allocation upon request. Special “presenter” codes can be enabled for higher speed access. Assigning separate GIA (Guest Internet Access) codes per conference will allow you to manage all of your events’ bandwidth usage.

Attendee Mobile and Multi-Device Use

As many of our previous blog posts indicate, mobile device use is on the rise, especially among business travelers. This trend means conference attendees will likely being carrying multiple devices and you need a way to manage the bandwidth those devices are consuming. Eleven’s CSMS allows you to limit bandwidth per user, rather than per device so that bandwidth allocation is more fairly distributed up to attendees.

CSMS should also make it easy for guests to access your in-house printers, projectors, and business centers with their own tablet, laptop, and mobile phone. With CSMS like Eleven’s, conference managers can set controls on the accessibility of hotel hardware for the attendee use.

In Part III of this serieswe will delve into the advantages of customization as a benefit to your bottom line.
